Requirements for education
Specialist exam in Orthopaedics or Neurosurgery from within EU or education recognized in an EU-country plus at least three years of experience as working as a specialist in that country.
Orientation to Spinal Surgery.
Required qualification/ experience
We welcome you who are a licensed doctor with the right to work in Swedish healthcare, and you also have specialist competence in Orthopaedics.
It is considered meritorious if you:
- have several years of service, clinical skill and independence in your main specialty in addition to the specialist competence obtained
- have defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
- have documented teaching and/or supervisory merit
- have a doctorate.
We value that you have a good ability to cooperate with both colleagues and other staff categories as well as good treatment in contact with patients and relatives. You show good judgment and are happy to take your own initiatives to develop yourself and the people around you. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
Duties
We offer you great opportunities to influence your and your future colleagues’ workplace with a focus on providing our patients with the best possible spinal surgical care. The work consists of the usual tasks for senior/specialist doctors with duties in the reception, surgery and ward. If interested and possible, participation in trauma care takes place in another hospital.
Salary for staff with Swedish legitimation
80.000 – 95.000 SEK depending on professional background and number of years of experience as a specialist. Later, as a consultant doctor, you can earn even 100-110.000 SEK or more.
Information about the workplace
The hospital is part of the healthcare administration of the southernmost region of Sweden, which is one of region’s five health and healthcare administrations.
It is an emergency hospital with operations around the clock. The hospital has an emergency department as well as clinics and wards in many different specialties. There are also childbirth and neonatal care for premature babies and their mothers.
They also operate other hospitals where they perform a large part of planned operations.
They are a learning organization in constant development. With them you will have good opportunities to grow and broaden your perspective in cross-professional collaborations with colleagues from different activities. The opportunities to combine research with clinical work are very good and exciting research projects are conducted in several areas. They have an extensive training mission, with them many of tomorrow’s colleagues undergo their clinical training.
The Orthopaedics Department at the hospital provides acute and elective orthopaedic care for the population of the northwestern part of the region. A large proportion of elective care is provided at the hospital.
The overall goal of the department is to operate, develop and deliver high-quality orthopaedic care to the population of region within a reasonable time. They provide education for medical students, trainee doctors and operate in an active research environment with many PhD-qualified employees.
They are a moderately large clinic with consideration for the patient and each other. Here you have great opportunities to influence and design routines yourself. They offer a dynamic and broad workplace with good cohesion.

About the places
The work can take place in two cities which are two prominent coastal cities in the southernmost region of Sweden. While they are only about 30 kilometres apart and even share a regional airport, they offer distinct atmospheres—one is a bustling historical “gateway” to Denmark, while the other is known for its relaxed seaside charm and unique landmarks.
The bigger city is Sweden’s one of the largest cities, close to Denmark. There is a vibrant urban centre with a blend of medieval history and modern coastal life. It is built on a geological fault, creating a unique “upper” and “lower” city layout.
The smaller one is located north of the bigger one. It is a scenic town known for its natural beauty and quirky history. It is a popular summer destination featuring a 6-kilometer-long sandy beach at a bay.
