Required competences and skills

As a person, you are secure and stable with a good ability to distinguish between the personal and the professional. You are confident in your knowledge and skills, dare to make your own decisions and take responsibility for your work tasks. As the work involves a lot of collaboration with other colleagues, we would like to see that you find it easy to work well with other people.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Other requirements

A specialist doctor supervises younger colleagues and this is a natural part of the job. The position may involve travel in the form of training/conferences.

We would like the doctor to have a driver’s license.

Salary for staff with Swedish legitimation

Generally, a specialist having licence to practice in Sweden, with proper skills in Swedish and with ability for being able to work independently (strong C1-level) earns 90-95.000 SEK (around 8.000-8.500 EUR). A consultant may earn above 100.000 SEK (even 10.000 EUR or more).

However, when you start, you will have the title of Assistant Doctor. The salary is slightly lower at the beginning, even though you are a specialist doctor in your home country. This is because you initially have an introduction and are not expected to carry specialist responsibilities. At first you go along, get to know the business, colleagues, system, work procedures, PM and more. During your introduction period of 6 months, you will study advanced Swedish (medical Swedish) 2 days a week via Folkhögskolan. This increases your chances for a good introduction to your new work within Swedish healthcare and a new workplace.

You will be employed as an assistant doctor with a salary of 59.000 SEK with a general fixed-term employment as a form of employment for the 6-months’ introductory period described above.

When Swedish licence to practice and proof of specialist competence are issued by the National Board of Health (Socialstyrelsen) and the introduction is complete, the employment becomes permanent and a new salary setting takes place as specialist doctor according to agreement. For a specialist whose Swedish is good enough an individual salary setting will be done.

Planned date of employment

By agreement, after completed language studies but as soon as possible.
