In Region Västernorrland there are three local healthcare areas; south, west and north where local collaboration takes place within/between the municipality, primary care and specialist care. Together we work to create a coherent care chain for the growing patient groups of chronic and multi-ill patients.
The health centres have a broad mission:
- General medical services
- Psychosocial services
- Child health care

- Physician participation in municipal health care
The mission includes:
- first-line health care with planned and unplanned care in the form of investigation, diagnostics,
- treatment, counselling and follow-up
- treatment and follow-up of chronic diseases
- early health care interventions and rehabilitation
- health promotion and disease prevention interventions
- immediate assessment and treatment of medical conditions that require acute medical
- care and that do not require hospital care
About Centrum Health Centre
The health centre is in the middle of Sundsvall and currently has approximately 13,500 listed patients of all ages and from all parts of society. Your future colleagues consist of family and training doctors, district and general nurses, assistant nurses, medical secretaries, social workers, psychologists and dieticians. Centrum Health Centre also houses the region’s training health centre for foreign doctors who do practical work before obtaining their license. We also have primary care on-call on our premises, which we staff with doctors and nurses on weekdays and holidays in common with other health and care centres in the area.

Generally, a specialist having licence to practice in Sweden, with proper skills in Swedish and with ability for being able to work independently (strong C1-level) earns 90-95.000 SEK (around 8.000-8.500 EUR). A consultant may earn above 100.000 SEK (even 9.000 EUR or more).
However, during the introductory period and until you will not be able to work independently and will not have solid language skills, the salary temporarily will be lower.

Extra benefits
In this region, one can receive further benefits, too. These are means-tested benefits, so it is individually judged which benefit can be received (none, one of them or both) for an individual.
- In connection with moving from another location, a reasonable relocation allowance can be issued. The region pays a moving company after having received at least 2-3 different quotes from different moving companies from which the region will choose the one it will pay.
- Start-up grants also can be issued up to SEK 40,000 (excluding social security contributions). The grant is paid out in four instalments during a two-years’ period. A repayment obligation will be regulated in a contract, in the event that the employment period set in the Guarantee of Employment will not be completed.
